We are Alicia Fishbein and Meredith Nelson, the founders of Intentional Birth and the creators of this summit. We have both been doulas for almost a decade, and are mothers to six children between us. Alicia owns a California doula agency, and Meredith is a pre/postnatal movement specialist in Virginia. We are best friends in work and play, and share a common mission and question — what would the future would look like if every baby were received gently; if every parent felt loved and safe during their moment of change; if the people around the mother recognized her body’s powerful wisdom, and respected her autonomy and authority? This is the future we believe in, and work for!
